UBuildABook ("Company," "we," "our," or "us") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website, services, or communications, including SMS text messages.
By using our website and services, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us. When you request a price or quote, place an order, upload files, or contact us, we collect the information you enter, such as your name, email address, phone number, school or organization, billing and shipping addresses, details about your book, the files you send us, and your messages to us. Payment card details entered on our order forms are processed through our payment processor.
SMS information. If you opt in to receive SMS text messages, we collect your mobile number and related message activity (for example, delivery status and opt-in or opt-out requests).
Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, our servers and the tools described in Section 3 record:
- Your IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system
- The pages you view, the order you view them in, the date and time of each visit, and how long each page is shown on your screen
- The files you download from our website, such as cover and page templates
- How you arrived at our website, such as the referring website or search engine, and any advertising campaign, keyword, or ad click identifier included in the link you followed
- When you request a price, the details you entered and the page you were on
3. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We and our analytics and advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies (such as tags and pixels) on our website.
Our own cookies (set only by ubuildabook.com):
- Session and security cookies (for example, XSRF-TOKEN and our session cookie): keep our forms working and protect them from misuse. The website does not work properly without them
- ub_vid: a random visitor identifier, so we can recognize the same browser across visits and connect your visits to the quotes and orders you send us. Kept for up to 400 days
- ub_src: records how you first arrived at our website (the first page you visited, the referring website, and any advertising campaign, keyword, or ad click identifier in the link). Kept for up to 400 days
Analytics and advertising partners:
- Google Analytics (Google LLC): measures how visitors use our website
- Google Ads and Google Tag Manager (Google LLC): measure the results of our Google advertising, such as quote requests and orders that follow an ad click. When you submit a quote request, a hashed (scrambled) copy of the email address you entered is sent to Google so it can match the request to an ad you clicked. Google states that it uses this data only to provide its services to us and does not share it with other advertisers
- Microsoft Advertising and Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation): measure the results of our Microsoft (Bing) advertising and show us how visitors interact with our pages, such as clicks and scrolling
- StatCounter: website visit statistics
These partners may collect information about your use of our website and other websites over time, and may use it under their own privacy policies.
Your choices. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of our website may not work properly without our own cookies. You can also opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, manage Google ad personalization at adssettings.google.com, and manage Microsoft ad personalization at account.microsoft.com/privacy/ad-settings.
Our website does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide prices, quotes, and orders, and print and deliver your books
- Communicate with you about your quotes, orders, files, and our services
- Send transactional messages, such as order confirmations, account alerts, or service updates
- Send promotional SMS or email marketing messages, if you have opted in
- Understand how visitors use our website and improve it
- Measure how well our advertising works
- Protect our website and customers against fraud, abuse, and security threats
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our policies
5. SMS Messaging Policy
By providing your mobile number and opting in, you consent to receive SMS messages from us.
- Message Types: We may send you transactional alerts (e.g., order updates, verification codes) and promotional offers (if opted in)
- Frequency: Message frequency varies and may depend on your activity with our services
- Opt-Out: You can opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP. You may also contact us directly to unsubscribe
- Data & Rates: Message and data rates may apply, depending on your carrier
- Privacy: We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number with third parties for their own marketing purposes without your explicit consent
6. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only as described below:
- Service providers that work on our behalf, including our payment processor (Authorize.net), our customer relationship and quote management system (Salesforce), our email and SMS delivery providers, and our website hosting provider
- Analytics and advertising partners listed in Section 3, which receive information through cookies and tags on our website
- Legal compliance: when required by law, regulation, or court order
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
7. Data Retention
We keep quote, order, and customer records for as long as needed to provide our services and to meet our business, tax, and accounting obligations. We keep records of website visits for analytics and security, and we do not currently delete them on a fixed schedule. Our own cookies expire after up to 400 days.
8. Data Security
We implement reasonable safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or via SMS is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you, and access it
- Correct or update your personal information
- Delete your personal information
- Withdraw consent for SMS or email communications
- File a complaint with your local data protection authority
California residents. Under California law, you may also have the right to opt out of the "sharing" of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights. The use of advertising cookies and tags described in Section 3 may be considered "sharing" under California law. To make a request, contact us using the information below. We may need to verify your identity before we respond.
10. Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed to individuals under 13 (or 16 where applicable under law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
